Advertising is an essential generator of sales for a brand and its services and products. It takes place at a distance, and delivers a persuasive message to existing and potential customers. The creators of advertising need to know who is the target audience of the product or service so that they can choose the appropriate media with which to convey the message.

Ads can take place in newspapers, television, magazines, radio, online, direct mail, catalogs and leaflets, and more. Television advertisement have an extensive reach. Since they have the advantage of sight, movement, sound, and color, they can be effectively employed to demonstrate the use of a particular product. Television ads are sold in units of 20, 30, and 60 seconds, for example, and the costs vary according to the time slot, the television program, whether it is metro or regional, and more.
